New Elvis song remixes released ahead of Baz Luhrmann’s new concert film | Music | Entertainment

Following his Elvis movie biopic, Baz Luhrmann has had unprecedented access to unseen footage and audio from 1970s Elvis Presley concert movies, That’s The Way It Is and Elvis on Tour.

And now the acclaimed director has put together a brand-new concert documentary that hits IMAX and cinemas later this month.

Not only that, but he’s once again teamed up with composer Jamieson Shaw, who put together the Toxic Las Vegas remix of Viva Las Vegas and Britney Spears’ classic track for the biopic soundtrack.

This time around, he’s worked on a couple of groovy new singles, which you can listen to below.

The first is Wearin’ That Night Life Look, which combines elements of four different Elvis songs into what he and Baz call a “DNA track”. Also, released today is a remix of the gospel classic Oh Happy Day.

Baz shared on Instagram: “When we have a sequence in the film where Elvis is speaking about his musical heart, it’s born from Gospel and from country. When recovering the sound, we were able to have some wonderful sequences with the incredible Sweet Inspirations. In the short sequence for Oh Happy Day, the archival recording quality wasn’t strong enough.”

Baz continued: “So we were lucky to have Shannon Sanders and his incredible group of singers down in Nashville, who sang in the film ELVIS, create a somewhat musical memory flashback of Elvis in his early days sneaking in and watching the Gospel Choir at East Trigg. A heartfelt shoutout for all of the wonderful creative support to Shannon and the choir for this reimagined version of Oh Happy Day.”

Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is in IMAX from February 20 and cinemas from February 27.
