A major supermarket has announced it is bringing a facility back to UK stores after six years. Shoppers have shared excitement after a woman uploaded footage showing the feature that was gradually removed or closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to Instagram, a content creator called Ellena (@Ellena.girliemum) said that the Tesco supermarket she was in at the time of filming had brought back changing rooms in its F&F clothing section. She didn’t say which exact store she was in, or if it applies to all branches, but the video sparked widespread excitement.

Speaking to the camera, Ellana said: “I’ve got a big update in Tesco F&F, let me show you what everyone has been waiting for, it is amazing.” She then turns the camera around to show what appears to be an F&F changing room.

Ellena added: “Tesco now has fitting rooms, I can’t believe it. Let’s just actually see that this is real.” She then zooms in on a sign showing the fitting room opening hours.

She said: “They now have fitting rooms in Tesco. So, you can try all your clothes on like we used to and not buy 100,000 jeans and then go home, bring them back, get a refund, and go back again with a different size. Just to confirm, Tesco now has fitting rooms.”

In the comment section of Ellena’s video, a user called Charla replied: “I saw this the other day! So handy that it’s back.” Another called Fiona said: “Thank goodness!!”

A different person wrote: “At flipping last!” Amy put: “This is good news! My daughter would cringe when I was trying on jeans over my leggings in the aisles.”

Elsewhere, on Facebook, a member of a group called Bargain Lover uploaded a picture of the same changing rooms in Ellena’s video, and wrote in the caption: “CHANGING ROOMS are coming back at F&F in Tesco!”

Many people have said they “really hope this is true”.

When asked for comment, a Tesco spokesperson said the supermarket is constantly looking for ways to better serve customers and, as a trial across a small number of stores, has reopened its F&F fitting rooms to allow customers to try on clothing before buying.

They said supermarket staff look forward to listening to customer feedback from this trial to see how they can improve their in-store services in the future.

Customers can return F&F clothing to any large store within 30 days with their proof of purchase.

Tesco began shutting down or removing F&F changing rooms during the pandemic. While a few stores reopened them for a short time, many remained closed for good, largely due to low usage, safety concerns during the pandemic, staffing issues, and theft concerns.

Shoppers have been asking for the changing rooms to return ever since. Many rely on Tesco’s return policy to try on clothes. As of early 2026, people on social media are still calling for their reinstatement.
