US Open LIVE: Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz dumped out as Sinner withdraws | Tennis | Sport

Iga Swiatek sealed victory alongside Casper Ruud in their opening mixed doubles match at the US Open, beating Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe 4-1 4-2.

Swiatek lifted the Cincinnati Open trophy less than 18 hours before she won the match alongside Ruud in New York. And she didn’t let the quick turnaround bother her.

“Honestly, the last two days felt like one long day, but I’m super happy to be here and playing with Casper,” the world No. 2 said during their on-court interview.

“I can improvise pretty well. I know his game, we played against each other in United Cup so I feel ike I have a feeling of where I should be on the court next to Casper, we can for sure complement each other.”

Former US Open singles runner-up Ruud added: “I was happy to team up with Iga, she’s on a winning train these last few weeks, so I’m just jumping on the train!”

They now face Caty McNally and Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals.
