Meghan Markle may have been busy carrying out engagements in Australia, but it was her latest outfit that stole the spotlight. Dressing for the warm weather, the Duchess stepped out at the InterEdge Summit in a spring staple that’s bang on trend – a sleek white waistcoat from an Ozzy label.
The only downside? The waistcoat costs over £200, and with the brand based overseas, added shipping fees and import taxes quickly make it an even more expensive buy. So, naturally, we went straight to the high street to find a more accessible alternative, and this M&S version is a serious contender.
The sleeveless waistcoat shape taps straight into Meghan’s tailored look, with a fitted cut that nips in at the waist. Although there are a few subtle differences, it’s affordable and gives a slightly more relaxed feel while still looking put-together. However, there is a bit of a difference with the fabric. While Meghan’s looks to be made from linen, this one is crafted from a soft jersey.
But that actually makes it more versatile and a bit more of an everyday option. You can dress it up with tailored trousers or a skirt, or keep it casual with jeans and still look polished without trying too hard. It comes in sizes 6 to 24 and is also available in black if you want something a bit more classic.
Shoppers who have bought the waistcoat have already rated it highly, with one happy customer writing in a review: “Beautiful fit, I love this, looks great with the wide leg jersey trousers too.” Another added: “A super smart waistcoat, the material is high quality, and it fits perfectly. Had lots of compliments.” However, some people noted it came up a little small.
