Tesco is introducing a limited-time promotion on its home delivery service from tomorrow (June 11) in the run-up to England’s first game in the FIFA World Cup. The supermarket giant is offering free delivery on its Whoosh rapid-delivery service on orders over £25 for one week in June.
The offer runs from Thursday, June 11, to Wednesday, June 17. The on-demand grocery service delivers a range of grocery items from local branches in as little as 20 minutes. Customers who use the service during the promotional window will see free delivery automatically added to their order when the value of their basket reaches £25, Wales Online reports.
Francesca Jones, head of Whoosh, said: “We know there are times when customers need groceries and household essentials quickly, whether that’s a last-minute top-up, forgotten essentials for hosting, or snacks for a big week of football.
“By offering free delivery on orders over £25 for a limited time, we’re making it even easier for customers to enjoy the great value they expect from Tesco, with the speed and convenience of Whoosh.”
Tesco doesn’t appear to have released precise stats about total Whoosh customer numbers, but it previously revealed that Whoosh sales increased by almost 50% year-on-year across the 19 weeks to January 3, with the high street behemoth adding over 250,000 new customers.
It means hundreds of thousands of customers could benefit from the promotion, including football fans stocking up ahead of England’s first Group L game of the World Cup against Croatia on June 17.
The Three Lions will then take on Ghana on June 23 and Panama on June 27.
Knockout games would follow in July if England progress to the round of 32. Thomas Tuchel will be seeking to end 60 years of hurt and lift the trophy for the first time since 1966.
