Sky Sports pundit Ryan Harrison was called up to help Novak Djokovic prepare for his US Open quarter-final.
A former world No. 4 in singles, and a doubles finalist at the 2017 French Open, Harrison now works on Sky’s tennis coverage.
His brother, current doubles world No. 17 Christian Harrison, often trains with Djokovic. But when Christian went out of town, the Serb’s team contacted Ryan.
But it’s been a while since the former player-turned-pundit got on the court, and he had to scramble to find some kit. Luckily, he coaches Aussie pro Jordan Thompson, and he also went rummaging in the lost and found.
“So they reached out, they said, what’s your schedule? I said, well, I’ve got to figure out how I can get everything I need,” Harrison told his Sky Sports co-pundits.
“Jordan had an extra pair of shoes in the locker from when he played, Jordan Thompson. I went and grabbed those. There’s a lost and found in the locker room for players who have lost and then left stuff in their lockers.
“So I went to the locker room attendants and I said, guys, help me out here. So I started putting everything together. Jack Draper left a couple of Vuori things so that worked well for me. And I put it all together and then next thing you know, I was on the court with Novak.”
